SEI provides a range of job seeking, vocational training and employment services and support to adults with intellectual disabilities.

Waste Education extends to the staff of Southland Enterprises and into the wider community they also run an informal curriculum based education programme. Almost every week the local newspaper runs a story of some sort related to Southland Enterprises Inc, often together with a mention of waste minimisation and education about waste reduction tips, importance and other relevant points.

Workshop: The recycling of wooden pallets into firewood, kindling, dog kennels etc is done at the carpentry workshop- here 80 employees receive training, skills and education (not only about waste reduction).

Recycling centre: 15 people work at the recycle centre sorting, processing and baling all recyclables coming into the centre from the kerbisde collection.

Unfortunately 'Pathways to Inclusion' a Ministry for Social Development proposed programme may threaten the 'integrity' of organisations like SEI and the people it employs.
