Tom Galimberti
Tom Galimberti isw the Principal of Global Environmental Management Systems Ltd, an environmental management consulting firm (Canadian Offices in Victoria, Vancouver and Toronto) with ongoing projects in the areas of Smart Growth urban development; performance based environmental management systems; product stewardship programs; contaminated sites; environmental assessment; and, the facilitation of business-government relations.

  • Former Assistant Deputy Minister, Ministry of Environment,. Government of Saskatchewan
  • Former Director of the Pollution Prevention Branch in the British Columbian Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks
  • Extensive experience working at senior executive levels in the public and private sectors managing major environmental projects, programs and administrative operations.
  • Leader in developing co-operative relationships between government and business to accomplish mutually beneficial environmental and economic goals.
  • Developed and implemented strategies that led to expansion of the Government of Saskatchewan’s beverage container recycling program that resulted in the Program achieving the highest return rate in North America at 92% while being the first jurisdiction in Canada to apply a surcharge to “tetra packs
  • Developed the world’s first industry operated, performance based environmental management system for household hazardous products (paint, pesticides, solvents, gas and pharmaceuticals), developed and implemented in British Columbia
