Paper for Trees Programme
The Paper for Trees programme has always be a flagship programme for EERST.

This programme is available to all Schools and Pre Schools.

There are now around 330 schools in the programme and this grows weekly as more schools see the worth of this rewards programme.

What is paper for Trees?
EERST supplies recycling bins, wool fadges, recording sheets and colouring posters to schools at no cost.

Schools are encouraged to recycle paper and cardboard and set up their own systems to suit the school and the local recycling services.

Schools organise for the paper and cardboard to be collected by a contractor or deliver it to a recycling centre.

EERST rewards schools with a Native tree, shrub or flax for every three wool sacks that are filled each year.

Since the start of Paper for Trees (PFT) in 2000 schools have planted around 10000 trees and recycled around 30000 wool sacks of paper and cardboard.

The trees for this programme are sponsored by Design Mobel (www.designmobel.co.nz) of Tauranga. This progressive furniture manufacturer has a policy of planting a tree for every bed and bedroom suite that they sell

Cleaner Production
EERST is also able to meet industry needs for waste audits and advice through its partner company Waste Watchers. Waste Watchers Ltd (www.wastewatchers.co.nz). Waste Watchers Ltd provide cleaner production services for Tauranga City Council, Western Bay of Plenty District Council and the Whakatane District Council.
